Gossip With Friends

Artist Lee Smith portrays three birds that have formed an unusual friendship with the resident cat. The birds climb onto the cat's back while the latter lazily lay on top of a fence with a paw hanging by the edge. Part of Lee's series on animals with human emotions. She combines rich, intense colors, along with textural surfaces to create good-natured, tongue-in-cheek portrayals of man's best friends.
